Abstract. In the last few years there has been a tremendous paradigm shift in dentistry. Analog techniques get more and more replaced by so called computerized dentistry. For us as clinicians there is a huge variety of possibilities that we can use. But is really everything helpful and a development in our profession? How do we know what really helps us and our patients to improve our daily work?
As a prosthodontist, function and accuracy are still one of the main objectives to reach long term stability. Are these new techniques just gimmicks and how do they help us – these two questions will be discussed and hopefully solved in the two presentations of our dear colleagues Martjin Moolenaar and Nikolaos Perakis/Renato Cocconi. We have a real look behind the scenery, how challenging cases can be solved from case analysis to the finalization. What is necessary to get an esthetic and long-term result according to treatment options, collaboration with the team, choice of materials and so on and how can we integrate new techniques predictable in our daily work. In these presentations it is not only the question where do we start and what is the result – the main emphasis is much more oriented on the action plan and the questions why do they do what they do.
